Service description:Cerebra are a unique charity that aims to improve the lives of children with brain-related neurological conditions, through research, education and direct, ongoing support. The charity aims to help all children up to 16 years with neurodevelopment disorders and conditions, their parents, carers and professionals.
Their website contains a wide range of information on specific conditions, therapies and treatments, education issues, financial issues, disability rights and daily living. It also gives information on a wide range of support services that offer practical help to make life easier like their sleep service, grants, custom made equipment and a holiday home in South Wales available to rent for some families as a short break.
In Gateshead, face to face support can be provided by a Parent Support Worker, who can help you fill in forms, attend meetings or tribunals and share in-depth local knowledge on dealing with educational issues and accessing services. They also organise fun events and outings.
