Service description:This group of visually impaired people aged 13-25 years meet regularly to plan and carry out a wide range of activities. Previous activities include gliding, snow tubing, quad biking, horse riding, ice skating, high ropes, gorge walking, canoeing, meals, cinema, theatre and theme parks.
A Facebook group has been created called ‘ActivEye’, as Sight Service is aware that the idea of attending a new group can be daunting, especially if they don’t know anyone else who attends the group. ActivEye allows young people who are blind/visually impaired to chat with group members and make new friends and information is updated regularly about trips, meetings and activities.
Sight Service also has an IT Drop in Facility which visually impaired people can use to browse the internet, send emails, use Facebook, talk on Skype, do online shopping etc. Assistive technology including magnification and screen reading packages are available and support is on hand to help you.
