Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside and South Tyneside councils, and their respective housing organisations, have joined together to make it easier to access housing options available across these areas.

After registering on the website, applicants are able to apply for social housing across the region rather than filling out different forms for each authority area. Applicants can search for homes and bid for properties using the time built up being on the housing register.

When completing a questionnaire online applicants will receive information about the housing opportunities available across Tyne and Wear and more detailed advice on a range of services available in their preferred local authority area. A personalised action plan and advice is available which includes:

• The range of housing options that could be available to the applicant, including information about social housing, the private sector and low cost home ownership
• Agencies who offer more specialist support and assistance, including information to help people stay in their home
• Suitable job opportunities in the area, and advice on training schemes
• Information on money concerns and benefits
