Service description: | Newcastle College is a general further education provider. For young people aged 16-18 a range of academic and vocational courses in various subjects are available from Entry level and Level One upwards including GCSE’s, NVQ’s Diplomas, Apprenticeships and Foundation Degrees.
For those aged 19 and over a range of courses in various subjects are available such as employability courses, vocational courses like Diplomas, BTECs and NVQs, Access courses, HEFCs, Foundation Degrees, Honours Degrees, teacher training and Postgraduate courses.
The college’s Learning Support Service provides support, advice and guidance for students with additional support needs and they work in partnership with other support organisations like North East Autism Society and Action on Hearing Loss. There are six support teams dedicated to assisting students - Asperger and Autism Support Team, Dyslexia Support Team, Learning Difficulties and Physical Disabilities, Sensory Support Team, Well Being Support Team and Assistive Technology.
